 Belmont 11, Bessemer City 0 — Graylin Heustress (3-3), Lindsey Teague (2-3) and Lauren Owenby (triple) stood out while Emily Tucker struck out 10 for 1-0 Belmont.

Cramerton 12, Stanley 3 — Haley Caskey recorded three hits and Rachel Fort went 2-for-3 with a triple for the Eagles. Laura Anderson pitched a complete game for Cramerton (1-0).

Ashbrook 114, Crest 153, South Point 154, Forestview 165, North Gaston 168, Hunter Huss 169, East Gaston 171 — In a nine-hole match at Gastonia Municipal, Ashbrook’s Courtney Taylor and Crest’s Katie Thackerson logged scores of 35 for medalist honors Monday. South Point’s Alexa Mooney (37), East Gaston’s Samantha Godfrey (55), Forestview’s Shannon Smith (53), Hunter Huss’ Brittany Harrelson (55) and North Gaston’s Courtney Tigner (54) led their schools respectively. Hunter Huss hosts the next Big South meet Linwood Country Club next Monday.

South Point 3, Highland Tech 1 (25-10, 24-26, 25-12, 25-15) — Kristen Barker had six kills and Chrissy Pickert had nine aces. South Point plays Thursday at North Gaston.

JV Volleyball

South Point 2, Highland Tech 0 (25-16, 25-19) — Abby Leong had four aces and Emily Wallace had four kills in the win.

South Point’s Elyse Will finished 15th out of 306 runners in the championship division of the Eye Opener Cross Country race Saturday in Spartanburg, S.C. Will completed the race in 20 minutes, 59 seconds.

Wildcats, Raiders ranked in first N.C. football poll of season

Ok, it really is all about football in Belmont — school sure must be fun this week at South Point.

It was great to see many of the varsity football team out supporting the real “footies” last night at Lineberger Stadium.
