Ok, it really is all about football in Belmont — school sure must be fun this week at South Point.

It was great to see many of the varsity football team out supporting the real “footies” last night at Lineberger Stadium.

He’s been a clutch player his whole youth sport career and a great pick in anyone’s book.

Last Saturday’s win was just part of a storybook of goal setting and accomplishments for this great kid !

*Ashbrook 118, Crest 146, Forestview 159, North Gaston 161, South Point 162, East Gaston 166, Hunter Huss 170 — In a seven-team Big South Conference meet at Green Meadows Golf Course, Megan Burnham (36) and Courtney Taylor (38) led the Green Wave on Monday. Crest’s Katie Thackerson shot a 35 to win medallist honors. East Gaston’s Samantha Godfrey (46), Forestview’s Kate Fitzmaurice (51), Hunter Huss’ Taylor Wolfe (51), North Gaston’s Courtney Tignor (49) and South Point’s Alexa Mooney (42) led the schools in scoring respectively. The next Big South Conference meet is Sept. 10 at Gastonia Municipal Golf Course.

*South Point 2, Ashbrook 0 (25-11, 25-9) — Taylor Houser recorded 14 service points and eight aces and Caitlyn Wilson added four kills for South Point (4-1), which plays at Lincolnton today.
