We asked for help, and we got it.

This is exactly what we mean by community. Several people who read the Belmont Front Porch responded to our request to help with imbedding links. The solution was simple, and resulted in a whack upside the head for all of us. Thanks especially to The Gaston Spectator  for their help.

On Monday evening, Jim Biggerstaff and Doug McDonald were inducted into the Gaston County Sports Hall of Fame at the Gaston County Club.

The Editors of the Belmont Front Porch would like to congratulate each of these fine neighbors. Both Coach Big and Coach Doug served as positive role models and outstanding men for our children.

Right after the Minneapolis 1-35W Bridge collapse last Wednesday, NCDOT inspectors visited Belmont and a similar bridge on Hwy 273 near Plant Allen. Here is what they found: WCNC Top Stories.

Last week both the Gazette and Observer reported the inspections. We hoped that the only access south to the point is OK. It appears that while it is old, it is stable.
